Background

‍

The company is a licensed cross-border payments provider with operating hubs in several markets. It moves money for businesses and individuals through licensed partner banks, the SWIFT network, and local payment rails, with client funds held separately at a licensed partner bank. Its own offering covers global transfers, FX, payouts on behalf of clients, and multi-currency accounts, built on upfront fees and no markup on the exchange rate.

‍

Its business customers are import and export companies, manufacturers, and e-commerce sellers. These are businesses dealing in physical goods that need to pay suppliers, settle vendor invoices, run payroll, and fund brokerage accounts across borders. Alongside them, the company serves individuals sending money to family, paying for education abroad, moving funds for investment, and settling cross-border property purchases. Two very different payment profiles, running on one platform.

‍

‍

Challenges

‍

The company had the licences and the customer demand. What it did not have was payout infrastructure that could keep pace with both sides of its book at once.

‍

Limited individual payout coverage through existing bank relationships.

Payouts ran on top of direct bank relationships. These served business payments well, but individual payout coverage was narrow, with only a small number of routes open for C2C transfers. For a provider whose personal remittance segment was growing, that was a hard ceiling on what it could accept.

Manual transfers between its own accounts.

The company operated two accounts and moved funds between them by hand. Staff raised every rebalancing instruction one at a time. Treasury work took up hours that should have gone to customers, and funds were not always where they needed to be when a payout batch was ready.

Two flows, one platform, no single rail to support both.

Business POBO for trading companies and individual POBO for personal remitters are different problems, with different beneficiary checks, value profiles, and corridors. Most payment providers are built for one or the other. The company needed a partner that could carry both from the same integration without splitting its infrastructure.

‍

Solutions

‍

Tazapay gave the company one integration covering both halves of its payout book, plus the account infrastructure to fund and rebalance it without manual work.

‍

Business and individual POBO on a single rail.

Tazapay supports payouts on behalf of clients for both business and individual beneficiaries The company can now send a supplier payment for a trading client and a personal remittance for an individual customer through the same integration, with the same operational flow behind both.

Fiat top-up into multi-currency virtual accounts.

The company tops up its Tazapay account with fiat and holds balances in multi-currency virtual accounts. Funds are in place ahead of time, so payout batches do not wait on an inbound bank transfer to clear before release.

Internal transfers between accounts.

Moving funds between the company’s own Tazapay accounts is now an internal transfer on the platform rather than a manual bank instruction. Work that staff used to raise one transfer at a time is handled in a few steps, with a clean record on both sides.

Coverage across multiple payout use-cases.

Vendor payouts, supplier payouts, payroll, and brokerage account funding are all supported. Business customers moving physical goods can settle their full payables cycle through one provider instead of routing each payment type somewhere different.

‍

‍

How It Works

‍

  1. The company tops up its Tazapay account with fiat, funding balances ahead of payout demand.
  2. Funds are held in the company’s multi-currency virtual accounts, ready to use.
  3. When a currency or account needs rebalancing, the company moves funds internally between its own Tazapay accounts, with no manual bank instruction.
  4. The company initiates payouts on behalf of its customers to business beneficiaries (suppliers, vendors, payroll, brokerage accounts) and individual beneficiaries.
  5. Tazapay executes the payout over SWIFT or local rails, and funds settle to the beneficiary in the destination currency.

‍

Impact & Results

  • Over USD 50 million processed to date through Tazapay across B2B and C2C flows.
  • Individual (C2C) payout coverage expanded well beyond what existing bank relationships supported, lifting the ceiling on the personal remittance business.‍
  • Manual account-to-account transfers removed, giving back staff hours once spent raising treasury instructions by hand.
  • Business and individual POBO delivered from a single integration, with no separate infrastructure for each flow.
  • Full payables coverage for businesses moving physical goods: vendor payouts, supplier payouts, payroll, and brokerage funding on one rail.

‍

Conclusion

‍

The company now runs business and individual payouts from the same place, funded from balances it controls and rebalanced without anyone raising a manual transfer. The narrow individual payout coverage that held back its personal remittance business is gone, and so is the operational drag of moving money between its own accounts.

‍

With more than USD 50 million already processed and licensed operations across several markets, the company has room to grow into the infrastructure rather than around it. New corridors, currencies, and payout types can be added on the existing integration, giving it a foundation that scales as its B2B and C2C volumes grow.
